OUR PHILOSOPHY

At Footsteps we provide quality early childhood education where Jesus is shared with children. Our philosophy is based around our four core values:

(1) Aroha/Love
God’s unconditional love is our motivation and we wish to share that aroha with our tamariki and whanau.

(2) Mana whenua/Belonging
We recognise the importance of supporting all tamariki and whanau to have a sense of belonging at Footsteps. We work together with whanau and the community to provide a rich environment where the language and customs of a child’s own and other cultures are promoted and protected. We see it as our responsibility to uphold the bicultural heritage of New Zealand and the principles of partnership inherent in the Treaty of Waitangi.

(3) Ako/Learn and Grow
Christian values form the heart of our curriculum, where Bible stories, Christian songs, activities and karakia are celebrated. Fun learning opportunities extend children’s interests and encourage learning new dispositions and skills through nature, exploration, discovery and problem-solving. Growing each child to their full potential is our prayer.

(4) Whanaungatanga/Relationships
We strive to support children to develop a personal connection with Jesus and recognise the importance of supporting children to learn alongside their kaiako, peers, and whanau.
